The secret’s out on wealthy Christian sect

Christian sect Exclusive Brethren has done well to fly under the radar for so long. Given that the school attracts considerable public funds it really shouldn’t deny it’s students a university education.

It is staggering that church members first reaction is to protect the image of the organisation at the expense of their own children.

If Australia’s Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse tells us anything, it’s that rule-bound, male-dominated hierarchies, such as the Catholic Church, private schools and corrective institutions, create the environment for some men to commit crimes against the children over whom they hold sway. The power of the institution is then bent to covering it up.
